Description
Our organic yarrow essential oil for food comes from the species Achillea millefolium. The product is offered under the name White Yarrow organic essential oil for food. The oil is a free-flowing liquid with a pale yellow to yellow-green tone. The tone stays in the light part of the colour range, while the scent above the liquid preserves its sharp depth throughout the volume of the product. The depth rests on a sweet herbal base, above which woody and slightly camphoraceous notes unfold. The camphoraceous notes correspond to camphor and borneol, noted in scientific descriptions of the species as characteristic volatile ingredients of the aboveground green mass. The volatile fraction forms an entirely organic base. The base remains free of preservatives and colourants, as organic cultivation does not allow synthetic auxiliary substances on the crop of Bulgarian origin. The organic base reaches the final product through steam distillation, which retains the volatile portion of the raw material without changing its character. Distillation itself is responsible for the purity of the scent, and the sweet herbal line is evident throughout the product. The product receives its raw material from Bulgaria, where the plant of the Asteraceae family occupies open areas and develops abundant aboveground material during the growing season. In addition, the family places the species among plants that accumulate a rich volatile fraction in their aboveground parts. The Bulgarian fields provide the stalks, while European herbal descriptions identify the aboveground material as the main raw material of this botanical species. The stalk remains the only plant material for yarrow oil.
Application
Yarrow essential oil is used as an aromatic ingredient in a wide range of foods, where it introduces a characteristic herbal profile with a slightly camphoraceous and pine nuance. In culinary practice, it is incorporated when flavouring salads, toppings and dressings, as well as into vegetable marinades, to which it adds a fresh plant accent. It is suitable for sauces, soups and cream soups, for pesto, dips, spreads and vegetable pâtés, as well as for preparing broths and purées, where it complements the herbal base. The oil is used in the production of baked goods, breads, savoury muffins and dough products, in pancakes and their fillings, as well as in cakes and creamy desserts, to which it adds a delicate aromatic touch. It is also appropriate in vegan recipes, including vegan sauces, patties, sausages and fillings, as well as in herbal patties and sandwiches. In addition, it finds a place in refreshing drinks and smoothies, energy bars and breakfast cereals, in flavouring cheeses, including processed cheeses, in rice dishes, side dishes, dry seasonings and culinary concentrates, as well as in natural preserves. Because of its strong aroma, the oil is used sparingly so that its herbal character remains balanced and highlights the flavour of the final product without dominating it.
Storage
Store organic yarrow essential oil in a dark, cool and dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Maintain a temperature of +5°C to +20°C to prevent oxidation and changes in quality. After opening, limit the amount of air in the packaging and, as the contents decrease, transfer the remainder to a smaller, clean and dry bottle. Use only aluminium or glass bottles for food products, preferably dark glass, which protect the essential oil for foods from light. Close tightly after each use to prevent air and moisture from entering. Observing these conditions preserves the quality and safety of the product for a longer period.
